The entire buying process of motorcycles can be quite complicated. Follow the tips below to avoid making costly mistakes when shopping for motorcycles and make efficient use of your time.

1. Starting Your Reasons and Expectations – If you don’t have any particular motorcycle in mind and you don’t want to listen to the motorcycle trader describe all his products, you can cut to the chase by explaining to the motorcycle trader your reasons for buying and any expectations you may have. From these, a good motorcycle trader will be able to narrow your choices considerably.

2. Price Range – Don’t be too shy to inform your motorcycle trader about your budget. If possible, provide your motorcycle trader with a definite price range so that he’ll have something to work with. From there, he’ll be able to make suggestions about motorcycle models that will best be able to give your money’s worth.

3. Accessories – If you’re interested in purchasing motorcycle accessories as well, it’s best that you purchase them from the same motorcycle trader who sold you the motorcycle unit because this will allow you to enjoy greater discounts due to making bulk purchases. Inform your motorcycle trader of whether you’re interested in purchasing motorcycle accessories for appearance or to gain better protection when riding your motorcycle.

4. Lessons and Licenses – Small or family-owned shops usually offer motorcycle-related services to their customers. If your motorcycle trader falls under this category, you could also ask him for help regarding motorcycle lessons and obtaining a driver’s license so you can use your motorcycle on the road.

5. Insurance – Motorcycle traders may also sell motorcycle insurance as well. If this is true in your case, purchase insurance from the same trader who’s selling you the unit and accessories so you can obtain even better discounts. Carefully review the features of each type of insurance policy presented to you and make your choice depending on the frequency you’ll be using your motorcycle and your budget.

6. Payment Method – Ask your motorcycle trader what types of payment methods he’s accepting. If you’re in need of financing, some motorcycle traders offer this as well. Make sure of course that you have the necessary documents with you before initiating talk with your motorcycle trader to save on time.

7. Shipping Method – Lastly, discuss with your motorcycle trader what shipping method he’s able to offer you. This is especially important if you won’t be able to drive your newly bought motorcycle to home.

You can accomplish all these in just one meeting and ensure that you’ll go home with the ideal motorcycle unit.

Dallas insurance rates are comprehensive and affordable. Particularly in the areas of renters insurance, motorcycle insurance, homeowners insurance, and commercial insurance, Dallas residents can expect to pay less on their premium costs without sacrificing the scope or reliability of coverage. TAHI agents specializing in Dallas insurance can help you locate discounts and recommend policy details that will indemnify your belongings, bike, home, and business with the best possible coverage on today’s insurance market.

DALLAS RENTERS INSURANCE

Dallas, TX is becoming a metropolis of high rise condominiums and apartments, as well as new homeowner subdivisions. Many Dallas insurance agents spend a great deal of time proposing coverage for homeowners in the Dallas area, but very little time searching for ways to serve tenant occupants. But tenants can suffer loss from the same perils that affect owners. Thunderstorms, tornadoes, and winter freezes can all cause serious expense without indemnification if the tenant does not have Texas Renters Insurance.

We can protect tenants against these types of storm perils, and we can also protect against fire, theft, vandalism, malicious mischief, and liability claims. Renters insurance in Dallas averages $25,000.00 in content coverage for as little as $97.00 per year. You can also obtain content coverage amounts from one of our agents starting from as low as $15,000.00 ranging up to well over $100,000.00. After 30 years of writing insurance in Dallas, Texas Auto Home wants you to understand how good these rates are and how smart it is to protect yourself fully simply by contacting one of our agents for quick evaluation and processing.

DALLAS MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE

Motorcycles replaced four wheeled vehicles in record numbers as fuel costs soared this last year. Dallas commuters, like commuters in all major cities, recognized the benefits of using motorcycles and scooters to get to work and school. Dallas insurance agents have long been insuring motorcyclists in the area due to the solid colony of experienced bikers, motorcycle builders, and custom shops. With more new bikers on the road than ever before in Dallas, insurance agents here at TAHI realize that they must offer policies for both sport motorcycle users and dual motorcycle users. Commuters and weekend bikers need rating processes based on their individual usage and driving category. Texas Auto Home applies discounts for experience, minimal usage, and motorcycle safety courses in an effort to offer the lowest possible rates to the bikers in Dallas.

Insurance agents in our office analyze specific coverage needs in order to determine if your bike actually needs complete physical damage coverage, or if it only needs liability coverage with additional theft, vandalism, malicious mischief, and fire damage. Our agents believe that in many cases this type of coverage for a 2005 Suzuki GSXR with 600 ccs can be insured for less than $336.00 per year. Payments can always be worked out through our office as well.

DALLAS INSURANCE FOR HOMES AND MOBILE HOMES

Dallas homeowners can count on our agents for all their home insurance needs. TAHI thinks it important to give homeowners a thorough analysis of their coverage needs before suggesting the specific coverage necessary. Texas offers a variety of policies HOA, HOA+, HOB and HOC all have distinct similarities, but careful scrutiny of home construction, age of home, and the interest of the homeowner may quickly distinguish one type of policy from another. Texas Auto Home Insurance believes in giving the homeowner the opportunity to itemize features of his home so that our team can determine best policy his or her needs. Explaining things like deductibles and coverage, along with such as additional structures and additional living expenses, are very valuable to the homeowner before the loss occurs. Premiums are discounted by a number methods, age of home, age of the homeowner, security features and renovations. Texas Auto Home Insurance expects to save Dallas homeowners as much as 30 per cent off of their current rates.

DALLAS INSURANCE FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES AND BUSINESSES

Texas Auto Home Insurance has watched the Dallas business community grow from plants and factories to a diverse community that ranges from small businesses up mega conglomerates that encompass thousands of square feet. We want to address some of the standard exposures facing business owners. Liability coverage is essential to every commercial entity because failure to protect any organization’s assets can quickly bring a flourishing business to an abrupt end. General Liability coverage and Commercial Auto Liability coverage are primary areas that have to be addressed before the business is launched and Texas Auto Home Insurance will make the process simple with clear definitions of coverage. Contractors, Manufacturers, Retailers, Service Providers, Office Professionals and Transportation businesses in the Dallas area should consult an insurance TAHI for a commercial insurance checkup. Our evaluation process is quick and thorough with a great opportunity for sizable savings. Home based business’s can find coverage for their equipment and Liability needs in many cases for less than $500.00 per year. Remember that our agency brings over 30 years insurance experience and a unique desire to personalize your insurance consultation.

Perhaps you’ve just got a great deal by winning a motorbike off eBay or through Autotrader, the only downside being that it is located on the other side of the country. Or perhaps the motorbike is a non-runner and you need to get it from A-B ready for repairs or scrap? Whatever your reasons, getting your motorcycle delivered by a motorbike transporter is a fairly straightforward process.

Service Type

There are a few different service options available when looking to move a motorcycle.

a) Motorcycle transported inside commercial vehicles on specially built brackets
b) Motorcycle transported on open trailer
c) Motorcycle transported in enclosed trailer

Quite often, the cheapest option will be for your motorcycle to be transported as a part-load with other goods in a commercial vehicle (van or HGV). However, be sure that the transport provider has experience with moving motorcycles and that they are using industry standard brackets/securing mechanisms to help prevent damage in transit.

Custom-built motorcycle trailers do tend to result in a slightly higher cost, however this will help ensure that your motorcycle is clear of other goods. Open trailers are more susceptible to damage and theft as the bike is clearly visible (in particular when parked). Enclosed trailers on the other hand offer a more secure solution and do not carry the risk of stone chips or damage from debris on the road.

Getting Quotes / Prices

Just like any service, you wouldn’t just accept the first price you receive. It pays to shop around, so aim to get at least 5 quotes.

Insurance

Without a doubt the most important thing when choosing a motorcycle transporter is to check their insurance documentation. If they are not adequately insured, you run the risk of not only not being able to file a claim in the event of damage but even losing your motorcycle altogether if their transporter is impounded by the police.

Policies do vary from company to company, but the key areas you will want to check are the value of the level of cover and cover for both theft and damage.
Your own motorcycle insurance policy may provide some cover for “vehicles in transit”, so it is worth checking this for extra peace of mind.

Establishing the trustworthiness of motorcycle transport companies

Right, you’re happy with the insurance document and you like the price, but how can you be sure that they are reliable & have the necessary experience to take care of your motorbike? First off, you should do some background checks on the company. A simple search of the company name on Google should bring up some impartial reviews. The company themselves should also be able to offer you testimonials and references. It is up to them to prove to you that they are trustworthy. If they find it hard to do that, then they probably aren’t worth the risk.

Payment terms

General practice is that the motorbike delivery firm will take a deposit (definitely no more than 25%) upon booking their services, with the rest payable on delivery. Usually cash or check is accepted but it is advised to use credit card where possible as you will be able to dispute these charges later should a problem occur.

Go through contract

Verbal promises mean nothing, insist upon a written contract for the services to be carried out. If you are uncertain about any clauses, ask the firm and get them to re-draft it if necessary. There should be a clause whereby you are compensated if they fail to deliver within the specified timeframe.

Preparing the motorcycle for transport

Now that you have agreed dates and signed on the dotted line, you will need to ensure that you spend adequate time preparing your motorcycle for transit. 99% of problems on delivery are down to poor preparation. So, don’t leave this to the last minute. The transport firm will no doubt offer you tips as well, but be sure to do the following:

1) Wash the motorcycle thoroughly
2) Make a written note of any pre-existing damage (chips, dents etc)
3) Take photos of the bike from several angles and close-ups of any pre-existing damage
4) Date the photos and written record
5) If your motorbike is being moved as freight along with other goods, be sure that you remove the battery and drain all fluids and fuel.

Remove any accessories and loose items from your bike, the transporter is not responsible for these items if they go missing or are damaged.

If the motorcycle is being trailered, although not always necessary, it is helpful if the bike is in working order in the case that it needs to be driven a short distance between transporters.

So, you should:

1) Inflate tyres
2) Charge battery
3) Fill petrol tank to ¼ – ½ full
4) Check and fix any fluid leaks

What to expect from the motorbike transport company on pickup / delivery
Before you release your motorbike to the transporter, be sure to record the current mileage, although you bike may be ridden a very short distance to get on/off trailers there should be no major increases in mileage between pickup and delivery.

Make sure that you have the driver’s contact details and that they have yours.
Upon delivery, you need to inspect your motorbike thoroughly. Do not rush this step or sign anything until this is complete. Check for any new damage or increase in mileage. Only once you are happy should you sign any documents, there is generally no come-back once the papers are signed.

In the unlikely event that new damage has been caused in transit, you should file a claim with the transport company and follow their usual procedures. You should also file a claim with your own insurance company within 24 hours.

Post Delivery

The vast majority of motorbike transport transactions go smoothly, however if there were any problems, first try to iron these out with the firm directly. They usually work on a referral basis and so really do want to resolve any issues that have arisen. If you had tried but feel you are not getting anywhere, you may want to file a complaint with agencies such as trading standards.

9. Spread eagle against the hood of the police car.

Â

10. Whatâ??s this in your flask?

Â

Here are ten actual tips of advice from a motorcycle accident attorney to follow if you have been in an accident. You can also learn more about how to handle a personal injury in Palm Desert, or any city, by calling the Law Offices of R. Sebastian Gibson at any of the numbers which can be found on our website at http://www.SebastianGibsonLaw.com  and learning how we can assist you.

Â

Obviously, if you have had an accident, and you are reading all of this advice, itâ??s at least been a few hours since the accident. That being said, we can run through what you should have done at the scene pretty quickly, since itâ??s probably too late to remedy whatâ??s already happened. However, if you ever have another accident, hereâ??s what you should do the next time.

Â

First, take a look around and determine if you or anyone, are hurt. If so, taking steps like trying to prevent further injury or loss of blood are the most important thing you can do. Even if some other driver caused you to be injured, itâ??s just good manners to help the other driver if they are hurt. They may even be so thankful that they admit their fault to you. The worst thing you can do is get angry or start a fight.

Â

Second, make sure everyone is safe from being injured further. If you are in the middle of traffic, and you are dizzy, sit down away from traffic. If your vehicle is a traffic hazard and you have accident warning devices like flares or triangles, put them out on the road to warn other drivers and get away from the car. Let the police an other emergency personnel investigate the scene with the vehicles in place and move them more safely at a later point.

Â

Third, call the police. Accident reports are extremely helpful if the police will do such a report. Let the police know you are injured immediately. Answer the police questions honestly. But if you are dazed or confused, let them know you need medical treatment and answer only what you feel sure about. Remember, your statements can and will be used against you if you admit fault, and it will be too late and too fishy to later say you didnâ??t know what you were saying at the scene. Police know that your best recollection is immediately after an accident.

Â

Fourth, get the other driverâ??s information including their names, addresses, driverâ??s license numbers, make and model of their vehicles, license plate numbers, and their insurance company name and policy number. If there are witnesses, get their names, addresses and telephone numbers as well. If the other driver makes any admissions of fault, write those down as well.

Â

Fifth, if you have a camera on your cell phone or in the car and you arenâ??t too injured, take some photos of the vehicles and the scene. If you canâ??t do it right away, do it after you are released from the hospital.

Sixth, if you are hurt, obtain medical treatment. Donâ??t decline the ambulance or hospital examination to save your insurance company money or to be stoic. Take your valuables out of your car if you can and get checked out at the hospital. If you are not hurt, donâ??t get treatment you donâ??t need. However, remember, after an accident, you may feel a rush of adrenaline that causes you to only start feeling symptoms of pain a few hours later. If you have a health plan that requires you to obtain permission first, call them and find out where you are allowed to seek treatment.

Â

Seventh, call a good motorcycle accident attorney as soon as you have had your initial treatment, so the attorney can gather other important evidence and prevent the insurance company from taking advantage of you and obtaining such things as recorded statements that you feel fine, when many of your symptoms have yet to manifest themselves. A good motorcycle accident attorney can save you from making a great deal of mistakes and can shoulder much of the hassle of knowing what to do about car repairs, car rentals, medical treatment, witness statements and the like. If you think you will save money by not having an attorney, think again. A good motorcycle accident attorney can almost always obtain much higher settlements, obtain reductions of medical bills and insurance liens and prevent you from making costly mistakes. Also, most motorcycle accident attorneys advance costs of obtaining police reports, medical records and the like and are paid and reimbursed for these costs only out of any settlement.

Â

Eight, you will need to report the accident to your insurance company, but since they will want to take a recorded statement from you, just like any other driverâ??s insurance company, itâ??s good advice to retain an attorney first. And if the other driver did not have insurance, remember that it is your own insurance company that will be your adversary. You will also need to report the accident to the Department of Motor Vehicles and your attorney can give you the form for this.

Â

Ninth, do not agree to settle your claim privately with the person at fault for the accident. This almost never works out to your advantage. Donâ??t agree not to call the police. Police reports that determine the fault for an accident are golden. Your agreement to not involve the police only affords an opportunity for the other driver to change his story and blame you when the police will no longer investigate the accident.

Â

Tenth, donâ??t pay a traffic ticket if you werenâ??t at fault or agree to accept a small payment for your vehicle repairs without knowing that the amount will in fact cover the cost of all the repairs.

Â

For many motorcycle owners, riding is more than just a recreational activity, it’s a lifestyle. Riding represents freedom, friends and fun. It’s what fuels daydreams and fills weekends. Vintage or classic motorcycles are the pride and joy of their owners many of whom like to parade and demonstrate them at classic bike festivals or other outdoor events.

With classic motorbikes the insurance implications are different to those with standard bikes. Motorcycle Insurance companies will normally insist on certain criteria on which they base the cost of the annual bike insurance premium for your policy and will also dictate whether your bike falls into the classic bike category.

With classic bikes it is generally acknowledged that an ‘agreed value’ insurance policy is the most effective way to insure. One of the main benefits of an agreed value motorcycle insurance policy is that you have the value of your vehicle agreed at the start of the policy, meaning if you have to make a claim there can be no doubt about the motorcycles worth.

To obtain an agreed value policy, insurers will usually request a fully completed vehicle condition form and 4 coloured photographs of the vehicle.

Classic bike insurance packages are specifically created to give owners peace of mind that their prized possession is covered for every eventuality

Generally, classic bike insurance premiums are much more competitive than an average policy premium based on the market value of a bike and even though older vehicles are more prone to breakdown and repairs and parts for specialist and obsolete models can incur a major expense, other factors for the classic bike insurance criteria override these and essentially reduce the risk therefore reducing the price.

So what are the factors which meet the classic bike criteria and how does this allow reductions in the motorcycle insurance premium.

* The motorcycle must be at least twenty years old.

* The policy will have a limited mileage restriction. This usually ranges from 2000, to 3500 or 5000 miles per annum. Obviously the lower the mileage restriction on a motorbike policy, the lower the usage on a public highway reducing the risk of a road traffic accident.

* The policyholder must have the sole use of another vehicle for daily use again this reduces the amount the bike is actually used on the road.

* The motorcycle must be kept in a secure, locked garage at the home address when not in use. This will reduce the theft risk of the bike which reduces the cost of the bike insurance premium.

* The usage on the policy is restricted to social, domestic and pleasure use only excluding commuting again possibly reducing the amount of time the motorbike is on the road.

* Drivers on a classic bike policy must generally be over the age of 30 and must have held a full motorcycle driving licence for at least 2 or more years. This again ensures a better risk based on age and experience, thus making a bearing on the premium.

There are usually many benefits provided under a Classic motorcycle insurance policy that would not be normally included under a standard motorcycle policy.

This may be automatic cover for all club organised rallies, cover for the insured motorcycles spare and dismantled parts whilst stored in a locked garage or other secure premises and possibly free breakdown recovery in addition to the main benefit of an agreed value.

Policies usually have a minimal excess of 50.00 pounds for both accidental damage, fire and theft claims and generally exclude the riding other bikes clause. This is so riders do not take advantage of the competitive lower classic bike insurance premium to use a much higher rated bike.
